London Super 8 Wedding Film

We had the awesome privilege of filming an absolutely amazing wedding earlier this year in London, England. It was such a joy to meet Fiona and Niels! See how super 8 film transformed their gorgeous wedding into a timeless memory preserved forever...

The ceremony was held in the historic Priory Church of Saint Bartholomew the Great, founded in 1123! You may recognize "St. Barts" from the films Four Weddings and a Funeral, Shakespeare in Love, and Amazing Grace. Fiona honored her Scottish background by having a Bagpiper greet the guests and and escort her into the church. After the ceremony, guests boarded a specially decorated double-decker bus to the reception held at the amazing Swan at the Globe Restaurant which is part of Shakespeare's Globe Theatre. Fiona's gorgeous dress was created especially for her by Jacqueline Bryne London and Fiona's beautiful custom headpiece and her mother's mustard yellow hat were created especially for them by William Chambers Millinery. Thank you Fiona and Niels for letting us capture your beautiful day!

We have been racking up the frequent flyer miles this year traveling all over the world capturing amazing weddings! (Thank you to all our awesome couples!) We'll be headed to a small ultra- cool beach town in Florida next month to film Kimberly & Michael's destination wedding and we are already excited. Dear Renaissance Studios Films,

Where do I even begin? Thank you so much for being so kind. Thank you so much for being so talented! We laughed and cried watching the video. We were so happy when our photos came back, but watching what you and Aaron captured on that that day, it's a entirely different experience.

I'll always remember our wedding day as special, but as time goes on, as life goes on, you forget. I already had forgotten, and it's only been 4 months! But your video helped us remember and remind us what an important and beautiful day that was.

As we sat and watched it with my parents, they were so amazed by how different your video is from the others. It was as if we were there again, in that time and space. My mom kept saying, "It's like watching a movie!" And it truly was!

Thank you for capturing our day. Thank you for making the day look so beautiful. Most importantly, thank you for helping us to remember forever!

This is the wedding film of the gorgeous couple that graces the top of our blog. Colin and Yvette are as beautiful inside as they are on the outside. We filmed their wedding in Super 8 and a little bit of 16mm. They wanted to capture an Old Hollywood feel and the vintage film we used really sets the tone they wanted. We also incorporated some live audio which makes it even more beautiful. (FYI- The wedding was beautifully officiated by Elizabeth Oakes.) Colin & Yvette's awesome friends who owned the beautiful house they were married at gave us very high praise by saying "Your work looks like a painting." Thank you.

That is our goal- to transform each wedding or event into ART. And we hope that when you see your wedding film, that you will realize that your wedding day was even MORE BEAUTIFUL than you remember it!

Spring is Here!

I love this season! The sun is shining, the flowers are blooming everywhere. I don't know about you, but I feel as if the hope "switch" in my brain has been turned on as of the first day of spring.

This past Saturday, I had the privilege of filming a gorgeous wedding at one of my FAVORITE NEW LOCATIONS: Saddlerock Ranch/Malibu Family Wines (It's not a new location, just new to me.) It was absolutely gorgeous perched up on a hilltop surrounded by vineyards. The clouds were very low this weekend, and it felt like we had all been transported to Tuscany. Very peaceful, very beautiful, very private- check it out. Oh and the wedding... AMAZING! I'll post some film stills and/or footage asap!

Oh my goodness! Sedona is such a sweetie! We followed her 3 times throughout her first year with our Super 8 cameras. What a gorgeous way to document the first year of your baby's life. Spotlight on officiants...JP Reynolds

Ok so we go to a lot of weddings... We have seen and heard MANY, MANY ceremonies. And we've learned from experience that an officiant can make or break a wedding. There many wonderful officiants in L.A., but one of our ABSOLUTE FAVORITES is JP Reynolds. You may have seen him on CBS when he officiated reality show sweethearts Rob and Amber's wedding (from Survivor and The Amazing Race.) If you missed it, he has a link on his website.

He also officiated at a beautiful wedding we filmed at the Biltmore, and we have never been so moved by a ceremony. There was not a dry eye in the room, but there was also laughter and joy. What an amazing combination, and what an amazing gift. If you don't have a minister, check him out! (You'll thank us.)

Sean & Cheryl are so sweet! They met and fell in love in San Francisco, but were married in Pasadena. We followed them to SF for a day to see where it all began. Then we combined the Super 8 footage with photos of their lives- the result a beautiful engagement film that premiered at Sean and Cheryl's wedding rehearsal and their beautiful wedding reception at the fantastic Cafe Santorini Rococco Room.

There is a lot that goes into a Renaissance Studios wedding film. Unlike with digital, there is no instant gratification. After your film has been shot, we take it to a lab to be processed and then color corrected and transfered to a format that we can use to edit it on Final Cut Pro. It can take awhile before we see the raw footage, BUT film is OH SO worth the wait!

We want to send a big shout-out to one of the best film lab & colorists in the business Spectra Film & Video. You make our work look so good! We love you Doug & Jerry.

We had the amazing opportunity to travel to Europe this year for a 30th birthday bash of one of favorite brides of ALL TIME-- April (& Eric!) who now live in Europe (not pictured). In addition to documenting and sharing in her big day, we were able to turn our cameras on the the city and art/cultural revolution that first inspired us to be Renaissance Studios Films- Florence, Italy. And we didn't stop there... we covered a lot of ground Pisa, Venice, Florence, Siena, Rome. Can't wait to go back! One word- glamorous. Yvette & Colin we're married on 6-7-08 at an amazing private estate overlooking Lake Hollywood and just below the Hollywood sign. The location combined with a 1940's old Hollywood cocktail theme and our film cameras (we used specially chosen vintage looking film stocks to match their theme)-- and it doesn't get more glamorous than that. What a wonderful couple! Marty and Bellinda actually had two ceremonies. A beautiful Catholic ceremony at St. Victors in West Hollywood on Friday. And then a "renewal of vows" and fabulous reception on Saturday at the magical Calamigos Ranch in Malibu. It was so fun to be with them two days in a row. Also, one of the coolest things about the wedding was Bellinda's dress- Belinda wore the dress her mother-in- law had created decades ago for her own wedding. And she (and the dress) look so beautiful, don't you think?
